THE HARMONY PROJECT
The Harmony Project is about the joy of making things together, to create something greater than ourselves that binds us as one. It is a wind-powered sound installation that uses bamboo resonators to convey vibrations in the ground. Imagine a giant, outdoor instrument made from bamboo. The Harmony Project was installed at Riversley Park, Nuneaton & Bedworth, Warwickshire and later, as part of a collaboration with Coventry University, fragments of it could be seen outside the Delia Derbyshire Building for the Bamboo Summit on World Bamboo Day.
The installation was produced and created by Imagineer Productions, artists Kunjan Thankey, Phil Eddols, and Lachy Brown from Cave Urban (Australia). Being a community based art project, Imagineer Productions and the artists worked closely with local community groups including, Nuneaton Men & Women's Shed, The Hub at Hill Top, Stockingford Community Centre, Camphill Community Centre, All Saints Cafe, Grit Art Central, Art Alert, Escape Arts, Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Coventry University.
The Harmony Project was installed alongside other large and interactive bamboo art installations by locally commissioned artists Alisha Miller, Spencer Jenkins, Anthony Greentree, Tim Franklin. Other bamboo sculptures, a huge dancing puppet and No Fit State circus were also part of the even day!
“I absolutely loved working with the local community groups and artists on creating this art installation. I’m so grateful to all the people from the community groups and University who participated and made it happen. It’s great to have so much creativity in my home town and be part of something that so many people enjoyed and got involved with.” Kunjan Thankey

“I got to go on BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire and speak with Vic Minett about how wonderful it was to see people from the community connect with each other and make friends during this project. I would love to be part of something like this again and make art available and accessible for everyone.” Kunjan Thankey
